Why Las Vegas?
Well, actually, Las Vegas was the last place I ever invisioned myself going. I absolutely hated large cities. My love was for the countryside, where you could step outside your door and go for a nice nature walk. Or at least a nice walk around the neighborhood without the slightest apprehension that someone might mug you or stab you. But, when your husband is in the military, you don't get much of an option of where you get to go. And as it happened to be, they sent us to Las vegas since, the highest demand for his job was here. But there's more to it than that. There is someone controlling circumstances outside of my control. That someone is God. He always puts you right where you need to be. And in this circumstance, He has a reason for us living here. For me, I believe it has to do with my art and website. Maybe that it will get more business due to advertising, or maybe I can get better prices here for supplies. Whatever it is, I know God has put me here, and my art, to touch the people of this city in the manner He has seen fit for me. We've gotten into a nice church, and made many great friends both on base and off.
It's still hard to be so far away from family and other friends, and to go from a lush green lanscape to a dry desert, but this is where God wants me, and I just have to accept that and look at the positives. And complete the mission He has called me to do!

This is what people invision when they think of Las Vegas
This is the part most visitors never see. Red Rock Canyon. This is what I love about Las Vegas! So much more quieter and peaceful!

Las Vegas isn't as cool as what they want you to believe. I guess for a while they were really trying to market more towards families, like it was a great place to bring kids. This is the LAST place you should bring your child. Yes, they used to have activities catering to kids, but no more. Most of those places are being shut down to make room for condos.Las Vegas' only water park has been sold to a condo developer, and now Scandia fun park has been also. As soon as you exit the plane, you see the ads for the casino shows of scantily dressed women. The ads on the taxis are worse. Those manage to reveal everything they legally can. And likewise with the billboards throughout the city. At the casino, the servers are scantily dressed, and alot of the casino visitors are too.

Afterall, this is the city where a mayor tells 4th graders his hobby is drinking, and the only thing he'd take to a deserted island is a bottle of gin. And the occasional photo shoot with the Playboy Playmates.
So unless your objective is to witness to the lost, this isn't the place for a Christian to be for fun.
